Kivu Choice, a fish-farming company operating on Lake Kivu in Kagano Sector, continues to contribute to efforts to improve community health and combat malnutrition in Nyamasheke District.

In partnership with Nyamasheke District, the company supports the national school feeding programme by providing fish to schoolchildren, while also promoting the sharing of its fish production with local communities. Kivu Choice has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing this initiative.

The company explains that its contribution goes beyond sharing fish as part of its commitment to safeguarding health. It also reflects its broader values of protecting families and the environment, as well as contributing to development initiatives that it will continue to undertake in partnership with Nyamasheke District.

During its most recent school fish-feeding initiative, held on 9 October 2026, Kivu Choice donated 2.8 tonnes of fish, which were served to approximately 9,500 learners across six schools:

  • EAV Ntendezi, in Ruharambuga Sector;
  • GS St Paul Tyazo, in Kanjongo Sector;
  • GS St Nicolas, in Kagano Sector; and
  • ISF Nyamasheke, in Kagano Sector.
